The challenge with this project was space. The client wanted a family sized pool plus a hot tub and sitting and sunning area incorporated into the design. The rear grade was retained with a double row of armour stone. Diving rocks carried the armour stone design element over to the pool. The pool design is a straight-sided kidney. The straight side was kept 1 metre from the rear property line to adhere to the building code yet maximize patio and lounge space. The sitting area is tucked under the raised deck, providing a clear view of the pool. The raised wood deck was revitalized with composite synthetic lumber and the 6”x6” columns were dressed with pine and stained. A cantilever concrete border outlines the pool. The patio areas are finished in a two-tone grey ashler slate pattern. A grey colour scheme was used throughout. A slightly darker grey stain can be seen on the solid board and batten privacy fence. Beauty and functionality combined to create this designer poolscape.
